Requirements for Membership... Membership is NOT open to the general public or to Midshipmen. Minimum requirements for membership are as follows:

• You must be 21 and have some direct connection with USNA.
• You must be a...
  • Parent or Family Member of a Midshipmen (Currently Enrolled),
  • USNA Parents' Club Member
  • USNA Sponsor Parent, or
  • USNA Staff,* Faculty Member* or Recent Graduate*
• You must agree to observe our Netiquette Guidlines and Rules of Operation which amplify our Mission Statement.

You may belong to any of the following lists...

• USNA-Net is our Master List and ALL members are subscribed to this list.  It is ONLY used to transmit Moderator Announcements, News Bulletins of Activities at the Academy and short items of interest to ALL members.  Members may not post to this list.

• Family The heart of our Listserver Community.  It is used by our members to share general experiences, and happenings on the Yard.  Discussions range from where to have dinner when in Annapolis to what to get a Mid for a birthday.  Almost anything USNA related is fair game including recipes for 'Sticky Chicken', how to arrange for flights home, or tales of family visits.  All members are required to be subscribd to this list.

• Plebe is a list strictly reserved for Plebe Families, Relatives and interested Upper-Class Parent Mentors.  Parents of Midshipmen of other classes may also wish to participate in USNA-Plebe thereby sharing their experiences, offering guidance, support, and helpful information to Plebe Parents, having walked in those shoes before.

  Plebe Parents are required to belong USNA-Plebe.  All new Plebe and Youngster Parent members will be subscribed to USNA-Family and USNA-Plebe when they subscribe.

• TheGouge is our Announcement, News and Information list.  It is a Broadcast Only list used by the Moderators to send timely information and announcements to our members.

• Prayer may be used by our members to share messages of a Religious nature including Prayers, Prayer Requests, Religious Commentary, Meditations, Inspirations from Scriptures, etc.  Since our other lists are secular by definition, this list serves the needs of those within our community who have a need to share religious thoughts with fellow members.

• Weather is a Broadcast Only list which delivers the daily and extended forecasts for Annapolis to your inbox every morning and relays all Special Weather Advisories as they occur.  If you want to know what kind of day your Mid will have, this list is for you.

• Clubs is a list restricted to Parents Club Officers and Newsletter Editors ONLY!  It is used to share ideas and experiences related to Club Operations including such topics as Member Recruitment and Retention, Event Planning, By-Laws, Dues, Newsletters, Fund Raising, Corporate Sponsorships, etc.

• S.W.O.R.D. is a special list serving the needs of Single, Widowed, Or Remarried / Divorded Parents.  Discussions center around topics unique to these situations as they relate to USNA.  Membership is limited to those whose circumstances place them in this category.

ATTENTION WEB BASED EMAIL users...     Free Web Based Email Addresses such as Hotmail, Yahoo, etc. are not accepted for membership in our lists due to the highly unreliable nature of such services and the volume limitations placed upon their users. The ability to create such addresses using false identities is also of concern.  We wish to protect our members from individuals who would join under a false identity.     We're sorry for any inconvenience but we must insist on a regular ISP based email address to insure timely and trouble free delivery of all our members' message traffic.
